2014 Chicago Auto Show: F82 BMW M4
The new F82 BMW M4 as well comes to Chicago for one of the coldest auto shows in the last decade. Merely afterwards seeing what the M4 can do in snowfall, the weather weather condition won't influence the purchasing pick of those that alive in winter climates.
The first M4 Coupe and the third generation M3 Sedan debuted before this month at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
Thanks to a lightweight design, M4 has a weight saving of around 80 kilograms over the outgoing M3. In add-on to using CFRP in certain components to save weight – both M3 and M4 get a carbon roof – the suspension components have been redesigned and are fabricated in aluminum. M engineers say the BMW M3 and M4 are ten sec faster at Nurburgring than the outgoing E90 / E92 M3.
The new 6-cylinder engine can be paired to a manual or DCT. Manual transmission is based on the BMW 1M and it'south 12 kg lighter than the gearbox found in previous E90 / E92 M3. It uses a twin blade clutch and upgraded oil system. If one orders the manual transmission instead of dual clutch gearbox, it will as well salvage 25 kg (55 lbs). The new feature on the manual manual, automatic rev matching, is only enabled in Sport and Condolement driving mode, but disabled in Sport+ mode.
2015 BMW M4 has a base price $64,200. Destination and handling is $925.
