hey buds.. here is my situation.. i live in a 4 unit apartment building.. 2 units on the main floor, 2 units on the 2nd floor.. i live on the bottom floor.. the building is setup with one main door in the middle of the front of the building.. a common area, staircase.

each unit has a back door which leads directly outside..

i am growing in my apartment in a tent, with a filter and using dryer sheets in the ducting.

there is no smell, i am two weeks into flowering..but we all know that the crop does stink bad going into the 5th week of flowering.. it overwhelms my filter system.. and i fear the stank will be smelled in the common area of the building..

i intend to seal my front door from the hallway of the building and making it smell proof using only my rear door as entry and exit for apartment..

what can i do to accomplish this? i wanna go to home depot at some point today and get some stuff.. what do you guys recommend?

Doors require two different kinds of weatherstripping: Sweeps for the bottom and self-adhesive foam for the top and sides.

    Installing Self-Adhesive Foam:

Clean the stop moulding with soapy water and allow it to dry completely.

Cut self-adhesive foam to fit each side and the top of the door.

Peel the back from the foam and press it into the inside of the stop moulding.

    Installing a Door Sweep:

Cut the sweep to fit the door.

With the door closed, screw the sweep to the door so that its bottom is in contact with the floor.

i use the door sweeps on all doors that connect to the "outside".
however, i've had very frustrating experiences with that foam strip adhesive crap.
it seems to not stick well at all.

Depending on the surface, you may need a good cleaning prior to applying the adhesive.

Any oils on the frame will definitely contribute to that foam not adhering.

I really dont see sealing your front door as the issue. You need to seal the room off, if the smell is THAT bad where it smells up a whole room, your whole place - the front door isnt the biggest problem you should be thinking about. Seal off the room, get a carbon filter and move lots of CFM's - you need to clean the air, dryer sheets arent going to do anything. Also, YOU think it doesnt smell. Ask a smoker, who smokes in their house if their clothes stink. Now give that smokers shirt to someone who doesnt smoke and they can tell immediately theres a smell.

The smells there no matter how you mask it, you need to remove the smell.
